It's Time...

Last week, I decided that it's time to work on my physical health! I have battled with my weight all of my life, but I've decided that with God's help this is something I'm determined to conquer. Don't get me wrong, I have no desire to have the body of a super model, but I am motivated by honoring God with my whole life, which includes by body.

Over the last few years, I've been challenged by these verses:

"Or didn't you realize that your body is a sacred place, the place of the Holy Spirit? Don't you see that you can't live however you please, squandering what God paid such a high price for? The physical part of you is not some piece of property belonging to the spiritual part of you. God owns the whole works. So let people see God in and through your body." 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (MSG)

So, I've taken several significant steps the last few weeks to work toward honoring God with my body:

1) I joined a Thin & Healthy of Lexington, KY

- A main premise for life coaching is that you assess where you are and determine where you want to be. Well the same was true with Thin & Healthy. I needed to get a clear picture of where I am and where I want to be.

So, in an effort of being completely authentic, here's the ugly truth:

My Current Weight: 209.2 lbs on September 24, 2009

My BIG goal: 165 lbs by February 15, 2010

So, that's 44lbs in 22 weeks, for an average goal of 2lbs per week.

2) I've changed my diet! I'm doing the Thin & Healthy Plan which consists of food menus, a balanced diet, controlled portions, and no more than 20-30 grams of fat per day!

3) I'm moving more! I'm getting back to an exercise routine. I've found a exercise partner and we'll be working out 3 days a week for at least 60 minutes a day. Plus, I've implemented several small things too, like: taking the steps instead of the elevator, parking toward the end of a parking lot rather than right next to the building, etc. If you have other mini suggestions, please share!

4) I'm getting at least 8 hours of sleep each night! This is a HUGE step for me, as I'm typically a night owl! However, I'm choosing to go to bed earlier, so I can start my days earlier.

It's time for me to finally conquer this battle once and for all!

P.S. I just got back from the gym and I've already lost 2.9lbs! YAY!
